In part 1, you got to know how our PH affects our health, where do acids come from and how a healthy PH is essential for optimum health and disease prevention. Today I am going to tell you how to alkalize your body with holistic nutrition.

4 Holistic Nutrition Tips to Help You Alkalize Your Body

1-Drink enough water

Water is needed for all bodily cellular functions and dehydration has a massive impact on our bodies.

Aim at drinking 6-8 glasses of pure filtered water daily to keep your body well hydrated.

Drink lemon water: 2 cups of luke warm filtered water with the freshly squeezed juice from 1/2 lemon. It helps cleanse the digestive system and buffer excess acids. Despite the lemons being acidic in their natural form, lemon water is alkaline forming to the body once consumed.

Enjoy organic herbal teas such as rooibos, peppermint and ginger.

2-Eat greens

Consume more vegetables and fruits and avoid excess fats, meats and refined foods

Aim for a ratio of 80/20: Consume 80 percent alkaline foods to 20 percent acidic foods.

3-Breathe properly

Most people breathe from chest and not from their abdomen. When you breathe deeply your body gets more oxygen and at the same time removes more acid through exhalation.

Sit comfortably, close your eyes and follow this simple breathing pattern:

Breathe in for the count of 4

Hold for a count of 4.

Breathe out for a count of 8.

Repeat 10 times.

4-Manage stress

Feelings like fear, anxiety and anger cause your body to create extra acids and at the same time, they make your digestive system shut down. That means your body is creating more toxins at the same time that it has stopped eliminating toxins. This is a big reason why stress causes so many health issues.

Try taking many small breaks throughout the day and deep breathing.

Try walking, yoga and massage.

Drink soothing teas such as chamomile and fennel and stress fighting teas such as ginseng.

If you follow these simple tips for a few weeks, your body will start functioning better and you will notice a difference in your energy and general well being.

How to test your PH level at home?

It is easy to test your exact pH level at home. You can buy PH strips from many health food stores. You can test the PH of saliva or urine using these strips. For salivary PH, be sure to test your pH either one hour before eating or two hours after eating.
