Two weeks ago who could have ever imagined that our lives would be turned upside down overnight because of a virus-a non-living microscopic particle which we could not even see by eye. There is a lot of changes happening now in our lives on different levels. Some might be negative while others are certainly positive. Change usually brings uncertainty, fear and worry.

We are living an unprecedented situation and nobody knows what can happen next or when it will end. The only certainty is that we are facing a tough time and we need to do our best to get out of it safely and with minimal damages.

My First Impressions

I wanted to reach out today to make sure you are coping well, share my feelings and reflections on the 2020 pandemic and offer any needed help. I will be honest, at the beginning I was worried, anxious and fearful. I felt shaken and confused and could not stop thinking about the many ways this unexpected situation will change my life.

What helped me go back to my calm was limiting exposure to the media and turning inwards for solitude and peace. I found my refugee in prayer, yoga, breathing, mediation, relaxing essential oils and herbals. I also went to my local health food store to stock on some essentials, which helped with my peace of mind.

Feeling Empowered, Grateful and Hopeful

When I was able to go back to my normal state and reflect on the whole situation, I found myself taking deep breaths and sensing a feeling of genuine gratitude. I was reminded of the many blessings in my life and was so grateful for my family, education, knowledge, expertise and all the resources that I have access to. I felt so empowered! And so hopeful!

I also had this weird feeling that I was preparing for this moment for a very long time and maybe for my whole life. This generated a strong sense of responsibility to be of service and share as much helpful information as possible especially with my community on Face book.

An Inspiring Face Book Post

This is an inspiring Face Book post that I shared lately, in case you are not on FB:

According to Dr Alex Vasquez author of ‘Antiviral Strategies and Immune Nutrition” , there are four overlapping antiviral strategies:

1-Antiviral: Target the virus directly

2-Antireplication: Block viral replication

3-Immunonutrition: Support Immune and barrier defenses

4-Cell system Support: Aid the body as a whole

Since the Corona virus  is a new virus and we still don’t know everything about it, steps 1 and 2 are under trial and not available for us. However we can certainly work on steps 3 and 4.

Supporting our immune system and the whole body and getting as healthy as possible is our best shot to combat this Covid-19 virus.

This is a first easy step that I suggest everyone gets started right away:

Write down a list of all the things that you are doing in your life to support your health. Then write down another list of all things that are negatively impacting your health. I know it may sound simplistic, but this can be a big eye opener. Now that you are aware of your situation, you can focus on making better daily choices to support your health and immune system.

Keep in mind that being healthy might not prevent the disease but will make your body inhospitable to any virus and thus minimize its effects on your system.

What We Can Do To Protect Ourselves

I am so hopeful and I know that we can get over this together. We are facing an unknown enemy-a novel virus- that can jeopardize our health and threaten lives. Practicing social distancing, washing your hands and disinfecting regularly is helpful, but not enough.

There is much more that we can do to protect ourselves. We need to take better care of our health and support our immune system.

Our health is being tested. Every single act of self-care counts. Every drink or food you put in your mouth counts. This is a marathon and not a sprint.

You Might Have More Control Over Your Body Than You Think

As a holistic nutritionist with a medical training, I realize the incredible complexity and fascinating resilience of the human body and I also know that miracles can happen when we give it what it needs. Now is the time to take full responsibility of our health, treat our bodies well and stop the neglect and abuse we have been practicing for so long.

Our bodies are very sophisticated machines with a pure soul and a brilliant mind. We might not have direct control over our bodies but we have control over our thoughts. And our thoughts create feelings. These feelings generate chemicals in the body that can change our physiology and our state of health. So the good news is that we are still in control!

In the spirit of staying strong during this pandemic, I have been posting some helpful information on Face Book about anti-viral nutrition and boosting the immune system. If you are on FB and we are not connected already, here is my Fb page.
