Hormonal Imbalance

Do you feel tired all the time even after a good night’s sleep?

Do you have uncontrollable cravings for sweet, salty or fatty foods?

Do you struggle with mood swings, brain fog, anxiety or depression?

Do feel dizzy or light headed upon standing up from sitting position?

Do you have difficulty losing weight even with dieting and exercise and/or carry most of your weight around the mid-section?

Do you suffer from painful and/or heavy periods or hot flashes?

Have you been diagnosed with fibroids, fibrocystic breasts, ovarian cysts, PCOS or thyroid problems?

If you experience any of the above symptoms, there is a high possibility that your hormones are messed up and there is a good chance we can help!

Facts you need to know about hormones

Hormones control every single function in our bodies. They are signals that trigger chemical reactions in different situations according to our needs. So there are hormones that help us feel good, stay motivated, sleep well, maintain our energy levels, digest our food, burn fat and much more.

Lets’ take blood sugar levels as an example

Our blood sugar is controlled by hormones. Two important hormones used to control it are insulin-which lowers it and get it into the cells- and the other is glucagon-which increases it by getting it out of the cells.

This balance is normally happening in our bodies all the time and the failure to maintain stable blood sugar levels can lead to constant hunger and even insomnia in extreme cases. Also one important fact is, if your blood sugar is spiking up and down all day long, this can affect your mood and will make fat loss very difficult.

Another very common issue is low thyroid function

Whether you have been diagnosed  with hypothyroidism or have a sluggish thyroid function, you can have problems losing weight. Unfortunately many women over forty have thyroid function problems on some level whether it’s known or unknown to them. Sometimes even with apparently normal lab test results, a condition called subclinical hypothyroidism.

The thyroid hormones have receptors on every cell of our body and affect the function of almost every organ, so an imbalance whether clinical or subclinical should not be taken lightly. The thyroid is not a small single organ that can be fixed on its own away from all the other organs and systems of the body.

There are so many inter-relationships between the thyroid, the gut, the adrenal glands and ovaries. So if you want to really fix the problem, we need to be addressing the root cause of the problem and working on balancing almost all systems of the body.
