Do You Need To Consult A Holistic Nutritionist?

Most of the people I meet including family and friends are looking for a fast and effective solution for their symptoms and this solution usually come out of a drug store.

For example if they have a cold they automatically reach out for a cold and flu over the counter medication. What makes this worse is that the media is constantly picturing these drugs as the only solution to their problem and even sometimes a way to a better life.

I must admit that not very long ago I was one of those who would ease my migraine attack (and I had many) with a fast acting analgesic pill. Though these pills would give me a short relief, overtime I found myself complaining of more attacks and more health problems. As a medical doctor, I always knew that these pills only dealt with my pain but not with the root cause of my headache and that they could be overloading my liver.

The two questions which I did not know the answer to were: Why was I having those migraines? And is there a way to stop having them? I knew that migraines have specific precipitating factors as stress, lack of sleep or low blood sugar which all applied to me. I tried to avoid these factors but not with much success.

Fortunately I now know the answers to my 2 questions as well as many other unanswered ones about my health problems. What I came to realize was that these migraines were related to certain foods as refined sugar, caffeine and wheat products. Once I cut these from my diet, I almost had no attacks. A bonus was also relief of my other problems as allergies, fatigue and skin problems.

I must confess that it was not an easy or immediate process; I did it gradually and made sure I had healthy alternatives. It seemed that my poor toxic body was sending me signals to get rid of these harmful toxins. I also learned that it is important to listen to my body. Of course this can be difficult if you are consuming so many toxins and processed foods but it is extremely easy when you cleanse your diet.

When it comes to medication and drugs, we all understand they can have toxic adverse effects on our bodies. What a lot of people do not realize is that there is a lot more effective and safe natural remedies (for non serious conditions) they can try before resolving to the chemical solution.

I can list more than ten tried and tested natural solutions to get rid of a cold. The most impressive is a very basic powerful recipe of honey, ginger and lemon tea (three super foods). Ginger has a steroid like anti inflammatory compound that soothes pains and aches. It was proven as effective in treatment of arthritis as non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs. The bonus here is that you have the same potency of the drug without the side effects, plus the many other benefits of ginger such as improved digestion, improved circulation, warmth and clearing of mucus,. What more can you ask for?

As a holistic nutritionist in Oakville coming from the medical field, I would advise you to look for the root cause of your health problems and not to settle down with symptomatic relief only.

Most of the common diseases nowadays including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, gout, asthma and even cancer can be traced back to nutritional problems.

Having a smart nutritional plan tailored to your needs and correcting drug induced nutrient deficiencies, in addition to making some life style changes can do wonders to your health. Healing your body is the only way to become healthy, happy and symptom free forever.
